| At Imperial Blasting, we specialize in paint stripping and rust removal. The processes primarily used for our automotive applications are Plastic Media Blasting and Mineral Blasting. Through countless hours of research and in-shop testing, we have learned that we can produce a clean, undamaged end product for our customers with our proprietary media we've developed called IB Mineral.
A lot of people read tons of information today and the one question that comes up in the stripping business is should they use Baking Soda or something else. We've found out the hard way that Soda does have some benefits on very unsturdy metal but it leaves behind a residue that will come back to haunt you later. We've found that the Soda will find its way into a crack and after some time with the moisture in the air or if water finds its way to the crevis the acid in the Soda will start to eat away the paint and start it to bubble. That you won't get from our shop, we work with some of the top builders in the country and don't need those kinds of issues. Thats why we stick with our IB Mineral its gets tested on at least 250 vehicles a year here and we feel it delivers the best results you'll ever find.

Plastic Media Blasting has been used for many years. The technology was fostered by the U.S. Department of Defense to replace toxic chemical stripping which was previously used for stripping strategic aircraft and aerospace components. Aircraft are primarily constructed of aluminum. Plastic Media safely removes paint from such soft metal without etching or warping, making it ideal for automotive stripping. Your Corvette or boat is incredibly safe with Imperial, as Plastic Media is especially effective when removing paint from fiberglass.
Plastic Media Blasting operates on the principle of low pressure and high volume, normally between 15 and 30 psi at 200 cfm. Plastic is softer than the metal or fiberglass, yet harder than paint. This technology allows us to remove paint in layers while leaving body filler intact. Plastic also safely removes powder coating and many other durable baked-on finishes.
Mineral Blasting is the superior application for removing rust from any surface. Our tried and tested techniques are as paramount to your results as is our mineral. Together, with mineral, our methodology eliminates the possibility of warpage.
Traditionally, rust would be removed with the use of high pressure and aggressive media, the most popular being Black Beauty and Aluminum Oxide. These media leave behind a rough, shiny, and oftentimes warped surface. While these media are effective, along with the rust, they also remove metal. Damaged metal is prone to rust.
Our Mineral Blasting process removes rust safely, leaving you with a satin smooth, undamaged surface suitable for powder coating or painting. Mineral Blasting is safe for use on all steel body panels, steel wheels, frames, drive shafts, rear ends, and suspension components. We save you time and money by limiting sanding of components prior to powder coating or painting.
